Who wants Fiber?? I DO!!!!

Where I currently live, I am unfortunate not to be able to take advantage of the new fiber technology. In my opinion this is the new way of getting a higher quality in home entertainment, whether it be through television, internet, or phone service the technology for quality is here. You don't have to worry about it raining and your satellite feed going down or worry about downloading on computer, as fiber technology surpasses all in front of it. Fiber optics will be the fastest way to get something downloaded over the internet.
Currently in my area I have seen and heard that they were laying down a foundation for Verizon FIOS in the future. I personally cannot wait for it! I am tired of my current cable provider, and have heard nothing but good things about FIOS.
Here are some things that people have had to say about FIOS and its dependability.

Steve Lacy, a software developer for Google recounts his experience with FiOS.
http://www.steve-lacey.com/blogarchives/2006/12/fios_installed.shtml

DEF EFX does very comprehensive rundown of Verizon FiOS TV.

http://www.defefx.com/verizon-fios-tv/

One of my peers just had FIOS installed and has never had a bad thing to say about it. His wife who stays home with the kids enjoys it because of the great on-demand availability. Makes it easier to allow the kids to watch something now and her to watch her shows at a later time.

Currently one of the great things that Verizon FIOS customers are able to enjoy is a collection of High-Def How-To Videos From Howcast. Here is an excerpt of an article from Prnewswire where the CEO of Howcast talks about HOw to and FIOS.

Jason Liebman, CEO and co-founder of Howcast.com, said, "FiOS TV has provided Howcast an amazing platform to bring our how-to videos in HD quality directly to consumers' televisions. We are excited to partner with Verizon and provide FiOS TV customers with a Labor Day survival guide that provides how-to solutions tailored for their holiday entertaining needs."

Not only does it help things be faster at home but in the business world many companies are making the switch. It makes it faster for everyone in small or big business to make things easier and more profitable. Faster things get doen the faster you can make money.

So why FIOS, Verizon gives the best explanation here"

Instead of relying on satellite signals or copper wires to deliver communication and entertainment services, fiber-optic systems are utilized. These systems are capable of delivering more reliable service for a wide variety of uses, including telecommuting, video on demand, home shopping and interactive content. In addition, fiber-optic technology is less susceptible to interference from changing weather conditions.

Now for me the most important thing is downloading music, movies or a video game. Especially in todays time where the internet and computers are our best form of ommmunication and learning. With cable the best you can get is 15 Mbps. With Verizon FIOS you get a whopping 50 Mbps. Now just so their is no confusion. With cable it takes 53minutes to download a 2 hour movie. With Verizon FIOS you could have downloaded 3 and a half movies in the same amount of time. So basically Verizon FIOS is 3.5 times faster than cable in downloading. In todays age faster is always better.

* Cable comparison speeds are based on averages of cable speeds available nationwide as of July, 2009. Actual throughput speeds will vary.

Also thanks to the people at Verizon FIOS they are giving away a few prizes including a HP Mini 10.1-Inch Netbook, a Sony Bravia 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, and a Panasonic Titanium Digital Cordless Answering System. Please make sure you check it out by going to this website.

Lets talk about Work!

Well you know College Football season and The NFL season isright around the corner. Best time of the year!!! yeah except pretty much every weekend guess where I am at. You guessed it working. Now I am not complaining about having a job. I love my job and I love what I do. I am also very appreciative that through these tough times I still have a job. Back to original subject, I love sports, all kinds of sports. When I say all of them, I mean all of them. Football being one of my most favorites it always is hard to not to be able to watch a game live or even be able to catch one on TV because of work. I am sure there are millions of people who feel the same way I do. People who don't enjoy the luxuries of having a "Real Job" as people like to say. You know Monday through Friday 8 til 5. Its just disheartening to be such a big sports fan and not be able to enjoy a game and a beer with some friends and family. My favorite team the Florida Gators will never play on a Wednesday or Thursday night unless they are playing for the National Championship. I know this is kind of stupid to right about but hey its my blog and I can do what I want.
I just hate the people who tell you you need to get a real job. I do have a real job!! I get benefits and a pretty good paycheck. So when I hear get a real job I just laugh. I know people who have real jobs who don't make what I make and sometimes work harder. I am fortunate to have a job, fortunate to have the job I have. Just would love to get weekends off during football season. I will work all the other weekends. Guess I better hope for world peace.
One of the great things about not having a "Real Job" is that whenever you got to the beach, a mall, a theme park, or most any place it is not as packed as it would be on the weekend. With that I feel relaxed that I don't have to rush because I know whatever I am doing there are not going to be that many people there. I love that!!!. Well all in all, love my job, love to work. Thats it just wanted to rant a little.

Contests Online

How many people out there enter contests online? How many people enter as many contests as they can thinking they have that great shot at winning something great? Who actually wins? Are some contests fake just to get people to sign up there email address. Maybe so they can spam them on email and at home. Sign up for this and your one of 10 million people entered to win a new car. Man that sounds great I can win a new car and all I have to do is sign my email address up. I am in. Funny thing is though I would be in. I would enter a contest if it was for $5 or $5000. Its the thrill of winning that excites me. Its the I beat out 6 billion other people who could have entered this contest but did not. I am the King of the world even if its just for that one split moment.
Recently thanks to Realplayer SP and the Hunt and Peck Twitter Sweepstakes I won a Flip HD camera.
Thanks Realplayer.

Sports tonight

Well tonight was a great night in sports. College Football is back in action with the Gamecocks from South Carolina defeating the Nc State Wolfpack 7-3. game was filled with very little offense, You could say it was because of the great defenses or you could just say both offenses sucked. Though it was good for the SEc with a win over an ACC team neither team looked very good. Spurrier improved to 19-1 in openers.
As For the Tampa Bay Rays was this the first of only a few nails to be put i their coffin. Now out 6 games with 25 to go it looks as if the Rays should start planning on how to keep the players around for next year. Also they should try and figure out how they are going to get more than 16000 people into their seats for a game the rest of the year. I will be blogging about possible solutions to this later. They have to come up with something better than what they are doing and what we are giving them.
Then the Boise State and Oregon game tonight which currently looks like Boise State is going to win and that means another Non BCS school will think that they are worthy to be in Championship game because they beat someone at beginning of season who was ranked. Hopefully they falter at some point during season. Or maybe not and we can have an all Blue and Orange Championship game. I think that Florida will be there. The other team is still up in the air.
As for Oregon this just shows how weak the PAC 10 is every year. The most overrated conference. They do have one of the best teams in the nation every year. I will give that to them. USC is probably one of the 2 best teams of the past 7 or 8 years. But I will go into this a little more as the season wears on.
No reason to talk about the NFL preseason who really cares about the final preseason week anyway. Oh yeah thats right the NFL did make a decision on when MIke Vick will be able to play and how many dog lovers are waiting for week 3 to throw dog collars at Vick. At least first game is not in Cleveland. He might get attacked. Well hopefully all goes well and he has learned his errors. He has done his time and does deserve to have a job like everyone else. Problem is his job pays 10 times what everyone else who has served time makes.
Well well well. I ended this post a little too early as there was more excitement after Boise State Oregon game. Seems like Oregon a Oregon player did not play hard enough during game and had some energy left. So much that he decided that it would be a good idea to punch a Boise State player in the mouth on the field after the game. Now this shows me, not that the school or team is bad but this individual player is bad. He should be taught a lesson and I am sure he will be. I am not saying I think he should be kicked off team. He made a mistake and it was when he was at his lowest. His team lost and he was ashamed and people were screaming at him. Now the wrong thing to do would be to kick this guy out of school. This would only make it harder for him to learn from his errors and possibly grow to be a better man. As for Boise state player you are an idiot. First thing I was ever taught when I played football was NEVER EVER take your helmet off. Just goes to show you Boise St. is not making the Scholar Athlete list this year.
